With its strong capacity for innovation and high level of excellence, Aubert & Duval provides recognised metallurgical expertise on the particularly demanding civil aviation market. Its comprehensive range of high-performance solutions addresses all the technical needs of this sector.
Tailored solutions for structural parts
Aubert & Duval supports its customers throughout the development and industrialisation of critical fuselage and wing components, ensuring exceptional strength and performance for both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft. We supply both small and large parts, with a particular focus on critical components manufactured from high-performance steel alloys, titanium, aluminium and superalloys.
With our complete range of forging presses, from 1,200 to 65,000 tonnes, we are able to produce parts of all sizes and in all metallic materials with flawless mastery and precision.
Selecting the most suitable materials for the demanding requirements of landing gear
A landing gear assembly must withstand more than 500 tonnes, cover nearly 500,000 km, and absorb the heavy impact of landings throughout its service life.
The choice of materials and the quality of all landing gear components are therefore of vital importance. Aubert & Duval works closely with equipment manufacturers on design, simulation, 3D modelling and machining processes to ensure optimal use of titanium, aluminium and high-performance steels in all critical components.
Our latest innovation – the ultra-high-strength stainless maraging steel MLX®19 – is the ideal candidate for landing gear applications, delivering exceptional strength (1,900 MPa) while reducing costs and improving durability, with no need for toxic chrome-cadmium coatings.
An integrated titanium supply chain
The company also supports the entire aeronautics industry in its decarbonisation drive by increasing titanium production capacity.
Aubert & Duval has developed an integrated titanium supply chain to meet the growing needs of the sector. This supply chain includes the production of titanium alloys from recycled scrap and reverts at our EcoTitanium plant, the forging of billets, and the open and closed-die forging in Aubert & Duval facilities.

Engines & Transmissions

Airbus A320 NEO engine. Modern aircraft. CFM Leap-1A engine. Airplane engine. Aircraft engine blades.
The next generation of engines will see significant efficiency improvements, driven by three key factors :
- Increase fan size
- Operation at higher temperatures
- Engine architecture redesign
The performance of these new concepts will also depend on the selection of appropriate materials. Aubert & Duval collaborates with OEMs from R&D through to industrialisation of various engine components, contributing to achieving carbon neutrality in the aerospace industry in the coming decades.
Our objective: to power the future of aviation
We have extensive, recognised expertise in processing nickel-based superalloys (y-y’) and titanium alloys.
Our in-depth understanding of processes allows us to provide components for the most demanding applications, including engine discs (fatigue properties, high-temperature resistance, etc.).
Our latest development, the nickel-based superalloy AD730®, can withstand high temperatures (750 °C / 1382 °F) while maintaining strength, creep resistance, and fatigue resistance.
Our product offering includes :
- Low- and high-pressure compressor discs
- Turbine and compressor cones and shafts
- Low-pressure turbine discs
Advances steel solutions for high-stress transmission systems
With a proven track record in developing high-performance steels for transmission systems, we offer a full range of steels for carburising, nitriding, and structural hardening. Designed to withstand extreme mechanical stresses, our advanced steels provide exceptional durability and reliability, making them the ideal choice for demanding gear and bearing applications.
We continuously innovate with new materials such as AD65N™ and C65NiL™ to meet the evolving requirements of critical systems including aeronautical engines with integrated reduction gearboxes.
